A feeding bush (or feed bushing) is a specialized liner at the extruder’s feed throat. Grooved bushes are crucial for single-screw extruders, using internal channels to increase material friction, prevent slippage, and boost output by 40% to 80%. They are built with wear-resistant bimetallic alloys or nitrided steel

Grooved Feed Bushes: Feature axial, spiral, or straight grooves to grab polymers (e.g., HDPE, PP) and prevent rotation in the feed zone.

Smooth Feed Bushes: Better suited for high-melt-temperature polymers like nylon, PET, and polycarbonate.

Construction: Generally made of hardened nitrided steel (e.g., 38CrMoAl) or bimetallic alloys (tungsten carbide/cobalt overlays) for high abrasion and heat resistance.
