What is LCP?

When not everyone knows LCP, almost everyone with internet knows Elon Reeve Musk, a man who has super talents and amazing execution ability.

His company Neuralink will start mass production for brain-computuer interface devices!

It's said that LCP film production must handle high temperatures (280–350°C), high viscosity, and poor flowability, often requiring specialized, high-torque equipment.

Co-rotating twin-screw extruders are the preferred choice due to their superior mixing, kneading, and shearing capabilities needed for processing LCP, which ensures a homogeneous melt. 

• Screw Type: Co-rotating intermeshing twin screws are highly recommended for LCP compounding and extrusion.
• Design & Composition: Screws must have high torque, high-temperature hardness, and high-impact toughness (e.g., ≥12 J/cm²) to prevent breakage under stress.
• Material: Specialized alloys, such as W6Mo5Cr4V2 (high-speed steel) or bimetallic materials, are used to resist wear from high-shear and high-temperature conditions.
• Screw Profile: The screw design often incorporates kneading elements for thorough mixing and material dispersion.
• Specialty Options: Posi-Melt™ screws are mentioned as effective for LCP, designed to disrupt laminar flow and increase surface exposure to the barrel wall.
• Application-Specific Screws: Hard-alloy screws, specifically designed for LCP, PEEK, and PPS, are used for high-viscosity, low-flow materials.
